Canvey Island - Vandals have spray painted cars and garages with swastikas and antisemitic messages on the same day the nation remembers those who died in conflict.

Canvey Island residents woke this morning to find a trail of destruction left behind by the vandals (Sunday, November 10).

The attack happened on Ferrymead and the surrounding area near to Castle Point Golf Course.

Canvey is a town known for its proud Jewish links, with many orthodox communities creating a home there in the past few years.

The disgusting imagery is believed to have been painted late last night and in the early hours of the morning.

Holly Roache, who lives on Ferrymead, took a photo of her neighbours car which was subjected to vandalism.

She said: "There’s a car at the entrance of our road that’s been targeted and also in other areas."
