Jewish Cemetery in Sopot desecrated

Sopot - One of the internet users informed about the profanation of the Jewish Cemetery in Sopot. In photos published by her on January 23 in social media, we can see how the place of worship was insulted. 

In the photographs we see a bottle and a beer can, clothes hung on the tombstones, as well as crosses made of branches. Internet users also immortalized piles of leaves, numerous candles, some of which were hung on the fence, and broken fragments of glass. This is not the first case when the Sopot Jewish cemetery falls victim to vandalism.

According to the City Hall, "on Sunday, January 26, around 3:45 pm, the Sopot City Guard received a report about a strangely behaving man staying in the Sopot Jewish Cemetery at Malczewskiego Street. The case was reported by city councilor Anna Łukasiak, who went on to the cemetery after signals on one of the social networks. The Municipal Police took 21-year-old after reaching the place, and the police summoned found that he was not a resident of Sopot. Due to his suspicious behavior, the Medical Rescue Team was also called.

Nothing was destroyed, and items left by the man in the cemetery were cleaned up by employees of the City Hall.
