Chelmsford and Westford, MAPolice in Chelmsford and Westford are investigating a rash of alleged vandalism, including possible spray-painted antisemitic symbols, at residences and on vehicles.

Police Chief James Spinney said, “On July 21, officers responded to five residential locations for reports of vandalism.”

Spinney said, “One vehicle was spray painted with the word ‘sam,’ along with a crude depiction of a swastika symbol, in the area between Westford Street and Old Westford Road” said Spinney, referring to a symbol associated with Naziism, and antisemitism.

“Several fences were also targeted with the name, ‘Samantha,’” Spinney said. “This incident is being actively investigated by Chelmsford and Westford detectives.”

Spinney shared a photo of a vehicle on Sycamore Street, spraypainted with a six-sided star, also referred to as a Star of David, a traditional Jewish symbol, and the word, “Sam.”

Police released a video clip from a home security system. The video appears to show an individual with a mask and a blue shirt, running up to a house and then running away.
