"Antisemitism Situation Report": A comprehensive picture of the situation on antisemitism by the BfV

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) has created a comprehensive picture of the situation on antisemitism. It gives an overview of how antisemitism is currently represented in its constitutional protection-relevant forms in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Hostility towards Jews is generally widespread in all extremist phenomena: among right-wing extremists, among "Reich citizens and self-administrators", in Islamism and foreign extremism as well as in left-wing extremism.

Antisemitic ideas are virulent in the individual extremism areas to different extents and in different forms. Overall, anti-Zionist antisemitism is currently the most important form of hostility towards Jews.

The Internet, in particular, is an essential factor in dynamizing the spread of antisemitic agitation.

Thomas Haldenwang explains: “Antisemitism has always been an astonishing common ground among various enemies of democracy. The morally inexpressible has become expressible. It's horrifying that antisemitic violence doubled between 2017 and 2019. Everyone is called upon to resolutely oppose antisemitism: security authorities and society as a whole. "
