The federal government’s antisemitism commissioner, Felix Klein, has called for Germany-wide reporting of anti-Semitic incidents in schools. “In some federal states, anti-Semitic incidents in schools have to be reported. That should be nationwide, ”said Klein. “Then such incidents can no longer be swept under the carpet.”

The government commissioner also spoke out in favor of further developing the culture of remembrance and “making better offers for people from the migrant society”. Klein sees shortcomings in the depiction of Jewish life in school books: “It is sometimes devastating how information is provided about Judaism in religious books, but also in history books.”
