With “Schalömchen” on tour KVB presents Bahn as a symbol against antisemitism

Cologne - With a specially designed train, the city of Cologne, the synagogue community and the transport companies are setting an example for democracy and against antisemitism.

"The railway is a clear commitment to our Jewish people from Cologne," said Mayor Henriette Reker. "And it is a commitment to our Jewish heritage. This railway makes it clear: Cologne is unthinkable without its 1700-year-old Jewish community."

The city of Cologne , the synagogue community and the Cologne transport company presented the low-floor railway on Wednesday at Neumarkt. Its design already indicates the festival year " 1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany ", which will be celebrated nationwide in 2021. The train will be on the tram lines 1, 7, 9, 12 and 15 for the next two years.
