Gelsenkirchen - An antisemitic demonstration was stopped by the police on Wednesday evening in Gelsenkirchen. The approximately 180 demonstrators who moved from the station forecourt towards the synagogue were therefore stopped by numerous police officers, according to a message. In a video broadcast by the Central Council of Jews on Twitter, chants with anti-Semitic content can be heard.
The police initially announced that anti-Israeli calls had been chanted during the unannounced gathering. The police also reportedly used batons, but no one was injured.
