Germany - Research: "Berlin conditions - a shadow report on right-wing extremism, racism and antisemitism"

In the 14th print edition of the "Berlin Conditions - A Shadow Report on Right-Wing Extremism, Racism and antisemitism" ( »Berliner Zustände – Ein Schattenbericht über Rechtsextremismus, Rassismus und Antisemitismus«), Berlin projects and initiatives present their perspectives on the main developments and tendencies in these subject areas under the influence of the pandemic in 2020 on over 100 pages:

Doris Liebscher (Head of the LADG Ombudsman) refers in the foreword to the important preparatory work carried out by civil society projects for the State Anti-Discrimination Act that came into force a year ago.

Thị Minh Huyền Nguyễn and Victoria Kure-Wu, initiators of the platform # ichbinkeinvirus.org, talk about the anti-Asian racism that has become increasingly visible since the beginning of the pandemic, but emphasize its long tradition.

Jörg Reichel (dju) reports on restrictions on the freedom of the press and attacks on journalists in the course of the corona protests.

Julia Kopp (RIAS Berlin) analyzes antisemitic conspiracy myths and post-Shoah antisemitism in the context of the right-wing meetings. Conspiracy ideology also found its way into the private sphere, this is borne out by the increasing number of requests for advice from MBR, according to Anna Müller in an interview. Despite the pandemic and two lockdowns, the results of the victim counseling center Reach Out are again worrying: The number of registered attacks remained high - as the chronicle of the year running through the magazine shows.

Bafta Sarbo, Simone Dede Ayivi and Tahir Della from the Initiative Schwarze Menschen in Deutschland (ISD) provide insights into their current internal discussions against the background of the »Black Lives Matter« protests.

The Seebrücke initiative tells of the attempts to find new forms of expression in the pandemic with an online demo and decentralized hands-on activities, and Berlin's VVN / BdA also had to forego major celebrations on May 8 and put the commemoration in their social media Relocate channels.

This year's shadow report does not lose sight of other important topics: Further articles and interviews ask about the possibilities of a parliamentary investigation committee to investigate the extreme right-wing attack series in Neukölln (Ulli Jentsch, apabiz / NSU-Watch and Caro Keller, NSU-Watch).
