Norway - Drammen imam suspended after antisemitic statements

Drammen
- The Muslim organization, Minhaj-ul-Quran has suspended the imam who has written several antisemitic posts on Facebook.

Minhaj-ul-Quran writes in a press release that they dissociate themselves from the statements against Jews that were published on the imam's private Facebook profile earlier this year.

These are antisemitic posts that the religious community condemns and has zero tolerance for, and which are in conflict with our work for several decades, the organization writes.

In light of this, the board of Minhaj-ul-Quran Buskerud decided to suspend Imam Noor Ahmed Noor from his position as imam in Drammen.

The Imam has apologized for the posts, which have now been deleted from his profile. The posts were copied from others, and then shared by himself, he writes in an SMS to Drammens Tidende.

My posts were published in frustration over attacks in Gaza that were committed against innocent children and women. My criticism and frustration should have been directed at the regime, not at groups of people, he writes.
