Germany - Graffiti on memorial for destroyed synagogue in Leipzig

- Strangers sprayed graffiti with purple-blue paint on the edge of the Leipzig Holocaust memorial. No political motivation could be assigned to the 65 by 27 centimeter logo, as the Leipzig Police Department announced on Friday.

The police have started investigations into damage to property that is harmful to the community.

The Holocaust memorial in Leipziger Zentralstrasse is reminiscent of the former synagogue. 40 bronze chairs are lined up on a plateau. A low wall traces the floor plan of the synagogue, which was inaugurated in September 1855 and destroyed during the Nazi era in 1938.
