Norway - Imam in Drammen fired after antisemitic statements

Imam Noor Ahmed Noor
The board of Minhaj ul-Quran Norway has chosen to dismiss Imam Noor Ahmed Noor in Drammen after his antisemitic post on Facebook.

The decision was made on Monday, and the religious community announced the decision in a press release late Tuesday night.

Imam Noor Ahmed Noor has since been dismissed, and the working relationship with him has ended with immediate effect. The government points out that Minhaj-ul-Quran has zero tolerance for antisemitism and will crack down hard on all forms of incitement, racism and discrimination, it says.

The decision comes after the board appointed a committee of inquiry, which proposed dismissing the imam. The committee concluded that there was a serious breach of duty in the employment contract.
