Nazi symbols and Slavic runes: a suspect in the desecration of a monument to the victims of the Holocaust was detained in Volgograd

Employees of the Center for Countering Extremism of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volgograd Region, together with colleagues from the regional Directorate of the FSB of Russia and territorial divisions of the internal affairs bodies, identified and detained a suspect in desecrating a monument to the victims of the Holocaust in Volgograd.

The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volgograd Region published a photo of the detainee. His name is not published, only age is indicated.

“The police found out that a 23-year-old previously convicted local resident was thoroughly preparing for the commission of this illegal act. He bought a mask with slits for the eyes, dark clothes, a can of paint and applied inscriptions at night. Attributes and notebooks with notes of an extremist nature were found in his apartment. He confessed to what he had done, "the official statement of law enforcement agencies says.

The published photographs show tattoos on the arms of the detainee (from Nazi symbols to Slavic runes, as well as the Russian words "pain" and "horror").

The police also established that the detainee was involved in two robberies on the territory of the city of Volgograd - a grocery store and a pawnshop, in one of the cases he used a crossbow as a weapon.
